The Suns Front Office said they would re-evaluate the 8-0 run in the Bubble, before considering their off-season plans. My guess is they liked what they saw and built accordingly.
First ran across your work, funny enough, on the Bleacher Report app a long time ago! Fell in love with the 7SOL pod and now you are creating just as great content as ever! Never change David!
Always! Do you think the Suns saw how effective the Lakers were at going big in the bubble and thought Jalen would be more effective than our other options to defend AD? Or does he he see more fluidity and ability for Jalen to play the 4 than you or I see? I love his weak-side rim protection, rebounding, and shooting but I just worry wings will take advantage of him
I don't think the Suns would draft to combat something like AD specifically. At least I hope they wouldn't. They seem to think Jalen can be a 4 but I guess we will see. For now, I think we will see him mainly as a backup 5 or faux 4 with Saric.
First off, I loved the gifs you included. It really helps visualize the way the team is going to mold around our young core and the new additions. Second, it’s been a hard decade for us Suns fans; especially knowing how close we were in the Nash era from breaking through so to just be realistically talking about playoffs again feels like a revelation. So I can’t wait to (hopefully) experience a competitive season again and to follow your newsletter through it all. Also Point Book with shooters all around needs to happen just for the hell of it
Great article as always! I agree that the GIFs showing our current players passing to our new acquisitions is pretty cool! I've been eager to read some about Moore and Galloway and how they'll fit, and you did just that! Thanks for working hard to his us Suns fans some great, detailed content. Miss your podcasts as well!
Nice article. I particularly liked the video mash-ups. One thing I noted is that all of the statistics cited in the article regarding team bubble performance go to effort: turnovers, opponent points off turnovers (transition defense), rebounding rate, and clutch performance. It stands to reason that many of the opponents the Suns played, having less to play for and reason to rest, may have been significantly responsible for the Suns’ apparent improvements after the hiatus.
Thanks David. I definitely subscribe to the theory that the Suns got a little lucky in the bubble. But it showed their roadmap to being really good and they strengthened all those areas even further.
The best one yet David! Loved it!
Good stuff, David. Appreciate all the work.
Thanks for reading Mark. I really appreciate that.
