Breakdowns like these are why I’m so squeamish whenever I see these articles about which “star” the Suns should trade for that include gutting our potential. Mikal and Cam are a great Yin Yang duo that can help each other grow. I’d rather have a moldable duo than a Kevin Love type of player
Great point. I guess I’m just so desperate to see the Suns develop some talent and not trade it away. I’ve always thought for mid level teams the way to contention is player retention and development, not wheeling and dealing
These breakdowns are so good David. As someone who has to watch the games with a two year old running around, it's so fun to see the details of what they are actually running.
Fantastic again! I only watched the first video but will be back for more after work! One question I had involving Cam Johnson and would appreciate your feedback on. Can you see Cam as a long term option as a starting 4? Getting his spacing out there would be nice but is it worth the defensive loss?
thanks Alex. There's a lot to take in there with words and videos, so makes total sense to do over a few sittings haha. Just glad folks are enjoying it.
Re: Cam. I'll throw a Q back to you, which I always start with on stuff like this. Let's assume offensively it makes the Suns REALLY good. How many big brute PF's are there in the league that are going to punish you enough to make it not worth it in good spurts?
Also keep in mind you'd like have Mikal and Oubre to throw at the quicker PF's too and can hide Cam where suits.
That’s a great point. Paul Milsap is the only one that comes close as I’m thinking about it. As you brought up in the newsletter I just want to see more minutes for Cam and his shooting.
So nice to have some educational xs and os in layman's terms, content we just dont get enough of in the bball mediasphere.
Im a phoenix native living in Sydney. Are you permanently in Melbs or just stuck on vacation?
wow, that Rubio signal for Ayton to trail sure is a sneaky one!

I get it but counterpoint: it's better to be in that position than the last 4 years where none of the young guys have had any worth in a trade at all

that means a lot Mike, thank you!
Enjoyed this issue even more than the first David. Fantastic analysis as always.
that's high praise, thanks so much.
